LOWER DIR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested a suspected terrorist in Bajaur raid who had been tasked to prepare a suicide bomber, ARY News reported on Monday.
Superintendent Police (SP) Amjad Ali told the media that CTD personnel conducted a raid in Bajaur and arrested a suspected terrorist namely Ikram. He added that grenade, explosive material and other equipment were recovered from Ikram’s possession.
SP Ali said that Ikram was associated with the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). “The arrested man was given a task to prepare a suicide bomber,” he concluded.
In another development today, the Counter-Terrorism Department grabbed a significant success in the Kacha operation and busted an arms supply network targeting police forces and other crimes.

An organised network of illegal arms supplies was busted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) during the anti-bandit operation in the kacha areas. The CTD claimed to have arrested an alleged member of an illegal arms supplier namely Abdul Khaliq who was providing arms and ammunition to notorious gangs.
The CTD officials told the media that two rocket launchers were also recovered during an intelligence-based operation.
During interrogation, the accused Abdul Khaliq made startling revelations about the supply of arms and ammunition. He told the investigators that the illegal supply of modern weapons and explosives was continued through Rakhni – Balochistan.
The officials said that other persons behind the supply chain of illegal arms will also be arrested soon.
